Touch Lamps Bedside

Lighting info brought to you by LightingShowroom.com

Have you ever wondered why there are so many different kinds of lights? You have ceiling lights, wall lights, floor lamps, table lamps etc., etc. Most of the time you will wonder why you would need so many different kinds. For example if you have a chandelier at home you may very well think that if you install a dimmer switch to it you can dim down the light for those occasions when you do not want it at full power.

Of course this is not a very good example because all of us know that if you want to create a really intimate feeling, there is no way that any system that gives ambient light can be useful. You need something that gives you spot light, in the sense that it lights up only one spot, like a table lamp.

For example, look at bedside lamps. Many of us will have a perfectly good ceiling lamp in the bedroom but we will still have a bed lamp. You may say that it is so because you can switch it off while lying in your bed itself, but then all you need to do is to make sure that you install the switch within easy reach. Or you can connect two switches to the same light so that you can switch it on and off from different locations in the room, a much favored system in hotels.

Some people say that they like the idea of having a small light beside their bed that gives them just light enough to work or even watch TV. Some people even have touch lamps bedside, so that they do not have to go groping around in the dark for the switch. All you need to do is to touch any portion of the lamp and it comes on.

A number of these systems are just remnants from a bygone era, like the wall sconces. They were used at a time when there was no electricity and you needed to refill them with oil. Even the height at which they were kept was keeping this in mind.

For all you know the bedside lamps started out as a candelabra that you blew out when you went to bed, so the next time you go out to get any lamp ask yourself if you really want that one, or if there is some other, more convenient to use and modern looking iteration that you can go for.
