Wooden Floor Lamps

Lighting info brought to you by LightingShowroom.com

Most homes have the traditional method of lighting. There will be a large central ceiling light, more often than not a chandelier with a few table lamps arranged strategically on tables around the room. Sometimes there may also be a few wall lights included in this mix, but not usually.

While this method is good enough, it is a system that has not changed in a few hundred years. Even during the middle ages when there was no electricity and light depended on candles and oil lamps, people of means went for the central chandelier to provide overall ambient light while there were smaller table candelabra dotting the room. Wall lamps were reserved for other rooms because they had a tendency to blacken the walls because of the smoke given out by the lamps.

Nowadays with other designs available, it is still a wonder why these systems have not caught on. Many people go to great lengths to decorate their rooms and forget the basics, good lighting.

Take for example the floor lamp, it is one of the newer designs in the market, but has really not caught the fancy of the public. Many people may feel that floor lamps are just too expensive for the kind of light that they provide without realizing the fact that it all depends on the kind of lamp that you go for.

If you want bright light, you can go either with the halogen floor lamps or with the multi-arm ones that have five or more lights in the same lamp. You even get wooden floor lamps if you want a really classy, old world look with a new design.

If you think that halogen lights will be too bright, then you can go with two floor lamps. While you may think that’s a mite on the expensive side look at it this way. If you have such a large room that one floor lamp would not be sufficient, you will also need a bigger chandelier which will set you back a minimum of $500. If you want to go for a really nice one like a crystal chandelier you will have to shell out much more.

Yet two floor lamps can be purchased for as little as $250 apiece and this is for the good ones. You get simple floor lamps for as little as $150 and if budget is a constraint, you can go for these. It may look different from what others have, but then looking the same has its disadvantages too.
