How to make shades at home in 10 simple steps

1. First of all place your fabric the right side up.
2. The next thing you need to do is place the lampshade on its sides on top of the fabric and mark the top and bottom ends using a pencil.
3. Turn the lampshade on its right and mark the top and bottom using a pencil. Continue marking this way until you complete all the sides of the lampshade.
4. Now join the marking on top using a ruler and a pencil. Next join the markings below using a ruler and a pencil.

5. Measuring an extra ½ inch, draw another line on top of the top marking and another line below the bottom marking. This will make allowances for overlapping, making sure you have enough fabric to go over the entire lamp shade.
6. Using a spray adhesive stick the fabric onto the lampshade, straight edges first.
7. Trim away the overlapping material and fold in the extra bits into the undersides of the lamp.
8. It is a good idea to use pins to keep the fabric in place while the glue and adhesive are drying.
9. Once the fabric has stuck onto the lampshade, stick the trimmings on. For trimmings you could use regular lamp trims, lace, beads or simply a different colored fabric to set off the fabric on your lamp shade.
Remove the extra bits using scissors and you would have made yourself a lampshade that you will be proud of.
